The Ali Wong standup I was referring to was Baby Cobra, and I accidentally said “city” instead of “fancy”. You can see that portion of her standup on Netflix’s YouTube Channel: Comedians On Being Of Asian Descent In America. There is also discourse on Reclaiming Jungle Asian.

Do The Right Thing was a 1989 Spike Lee Joint. The scene being referenced is when Sal’s Pizzeria is in flames, and ML leads people to Sonny’s store to destroy it while Sonny tries to defend it with a broom while shouting “I no white, I no white!” and “I black! You, me, same!” Watch the scene here.

Different sources give different top tens for the most-spoken languages, as there is no reliable census data, but most sources that I’ve seen agree that 1 is English, 2 is Mandarin, 3 is Hindi, and 4 is Spanish. Depending on the source, 5 is either Standard Arabic or French.

The school system in question was the Carroll Independent School District in Southlake, Texas, because of Texas House Bill 3979. The bill mandates that if public schools teach “controversial” things that they must also present other points of view "without giving deference to any one perspective." This is a result of the fear-mongering that conservatives and right-wing news outlets have generated over the teaching of history, LGBTQ issues, and race - specifically critical race theory. And as bad as it is, it’s getting worse.

Yes, AT&T helped build far-right One America News; OAN is not a news channel, but rather a propaganda machine.

If you can, please help me continue to create and produce GraysMatter Podcast. As little as $1/month will help me get into a position where I can spend more time working directly on the podcast and eventually expand it’s reach. To this end, I am on both Patreon and Ko-fi, membership platform services designed to help facilitate the relationships between patrons and creators.
I know that it's not always possible to sponsor someone on a monthly basis. If you would help me with a one time donation, please feel free to use PayPal, CashApp, or Vemno. Producing content takes time and effort, and any support would be most appreciated. Your donations help me cover expenses and eventually will let me be able to create quality content full-time.
